Cocoa processor and chocolate maker Barry Callebaut recently completed a project to add new solid and liquid chocolate production lines at its manufacturing plant in Campbellfield, Australia. The project also improved the site’s chocolate compounding capabilities.

Executives held an event on March 24 to mark the completion of the expansion, a company release announced. The investment in the location is intended to help Barry Callebaut meet increased demand for high quality chocolate across Australia.

“This factory expansion underlines Barry Callebaut’s ongoing commitment to Australia. The facility further strengthens our regional footprint in Asia Pacific, producing safe and high-quality products,” Jo Thys, president, Asia Pacific said in a statement. “This move is in line with our ambition to locate production close to our customers.”

Improvements at the 11,000-sq-ft facility also allow Barry Callebaut to supply a wider range of products in the country, including buttons, chips and specialties like coatings and fillings.

“I am proud that our gourmet chocolates have been brought into the country for many years now. Today, I am even prouder that our high quality ‘Made in Australia’ products are available in higher volumes, creating more chocolate happiness for our local customers,” said Denis Convert, managing director, Australia for Barry Callebaut, in the release. “With the expansion of our Campbellfield factory, we are well positioned to become the leading chocolate manufacturer in Australia.”
